Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav joins Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, after finalising seat-sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi stated that he would not join the Yatra until an understanding of seat-sharing is made between the two parties.
Following the deal, Congress will run for 17 of Uttar Pradesh’s 80 Lok Sabha seats, sending the greatest number of representatives from any state to the Lower House of Parliament.
While addressing the Yatra, SP President Akhilesh Yadav chanted slogans like “BJP hatao, desh bachao (Remove the BJP, save the country).” He stated that he would like to thank the public, and in the upcoming days, the biggest challenge is to save democracy and the Constitution, and he will fulfil the dreams of Dr. BR Ambedkar that have been ruined by the BJP.
All four parliamentary seats through which the Nyay Yatra moved, namely, Aligarh, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, and Hathras, were won by the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. As per the seat-sharing formula, Congress will contest Mathura and Fatehpur Sikri parliamentary seats, while the SP will contest Agra, Firozabad, and Mainpuri in the Agra Division and Aligarh, Hathras, and Etah in the Aligarh Division of Braj.
The 10-kilometre Akhilesh and Rahul roadshow in Agra, India, took place in 2017. It started at Dayalbagh and finished at Dr. BR Ambedkar Park. The SP, on the other hand, was able to secure three assembly seats in Mainpuri and one in Firozabad inside the Agra division, while the Congress was unable to secure any seats in the Aligarh division.
The photo was shared on the official X handle of the Congress, and both of them are seen taking selfies together in the Yatra. Workers of the Congress and Samajwadi Party shouted slogans in favour of Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi as the two leaders waved to the yatra crowd, escorted by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
