Political Career
- Akhilesh Yadav joined politics in 2000 when he was elected in a by-election of the 13th Lok Sabha from Kannauj. Also, he served as a member of the committee on food, public distribution, and civil supplies. He was elected for a second term from 2009-2012 for the 15th Lok Sabha and served as a member of several committees.
- He became the leader of the Samajwadi Party on March 10, 2012, and later, on March 15, became the youngest chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh became a member of the Uttar Pradesh legislative council in May 2012.
- In 2017, his party lost the Assembly elections; it was an alliance of the Samajwadi Party and Congress, so he resigned on March 11, 2017.
