However, on 1 May 2024, one of the accused, Anuj Thapan, died in a hospital after attempting suicide inside the lock-up of the Mumbai police crime branch. This incident sparked several speculations and controversies on the internet.
The speculations were fueled up when Anuj Thapan’s family accused police of the gruesome death of their family member demanding justice.
The murder statement was stated by Anuj’s brother, Abhishek Thapan, in an interaction with ANI.
He was not the kind who could have committed suicide. He was murdered by police. We want justice. He worked as a truck helper.

Additionally, the sarpanch of the village, Manoj Godara, stated with ANI calling the suicide “suspicious.” He also revealed that Anuj was taken into custody without any further information to the Sarpanch.
The family was only informed 1-2 days later. We all know how much security is there in police custody. On one side is superstar Salman Khan, and on the other side are the labourers. Under pressure, they killed him and framed it as a suicide.

He further supported his statement requesting the police to conduct Anuj Thapan’s post-mortem outside Mumbai for an unbiased report. The Sarpanch, Manoj Gadora, in the same interview with ANI, appealed, “The family is demanding justice. His post-mortem should be done outside this state because Salman Khan influences Mumbai. Whenever he hears Bishnoi’s name, he gets scared.
