Divyank Turakhia is an Indian billionaire programmer, businessman, serial entrepreneur, and investor. He is known for co-founding Media.net, which he sold in 2016 to a Chinese consortium for $900 million.
Divyank Turakhia was born on January 29, 1982 (age 43 as of 2025) in Mumbai, India. Turakhia did his schooling at Arya Vidya Mandir, Bandra, Mumbai. Soon after completing his higher secondary education, he pursued a Bachelor of Commerce at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai.
Passionate about coding, a child prodigy, Divyank Turakhia, started coding when he was only eight. Besides his coding interest, he was a computer geek and spent most of his school hours in his computer lab. At 13, he started selling computer projects to his schoolmates. In a year, his entrepreneurial skills were honed, and he started offering Internet consulting services to corporate firms. Surprisingly, his freelancing work helped him earn a significant amount of pocket money, and he was the richest kid on the block.
After completing high school, he showed little interest in pursuing higher education and was planning to excel in his entrepreneurial journey. However, his father wanted him to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Hence, he decided to attend the University of Mumbai. However, he never attended lectures and bunked his college to practice coding while sitting back at home.
He belongs to a Jain family in Mumbai, India.
Divyank Turakhia was born and brought up in a middle-class family in Juhu, Mumbai. His father, a chartered accountant, worked twelve hours a day to complete the ends of his family. Divyank Turakhia’s mother is a homemaker. Additionally, Divyank has an elder brother, Bhavin Turakhia, who is also an entrepreneur.
He is unmarried
According to an interview published by Wired, Divyank had numerous girlfriends; however, none of them were serious. Furthermore, a few years ago, he was dating a girl he met in Disneyland, according to sources. Meanwhile, in the same interview, Turakhia mentioned that he wishes to marry someday; however, he hasn’t found anyone worthy.
He follows Jainism.
Fascinated by coding since childhood, Divyank Turakhia, along with his elder brother, Bhavin Turakhia, started their first company, Directi, a web-hosting company. Soon after, he built another prominent company, Bigrock, with Direction as its parent company. Subsequently, Divyank Turakhia and his brother launched more than ten companies under the same name, Directi. Presently, Divyank has more than 1000 employees and more than 10 million customers worldwide.
Meanwhile, he also founded Media.net, which he sold to a Chinese consortium for $900 million; it was the third-largest ever ad-tech deal. Furthermore, Divyank currently runs operations under the new owners. Additionally, the sibling duo owns multiple companies related to web hosting, cloud infrastructure, payments, and advertising technology.
Divyank Turakhia bought his first car when he was only eighteen; it was a grey Hyundai Santro. Nevertheless, now, he has expanded to a fleet of cars. His enviable collection includes a Ferrari 458 Spider (at his house in Los Angeles), a Rolls Royce Phantom (in Dubai), an Audi A8 (in Dubai), a Mercedes S-class, a DC-modified Innova (in Mumbai), and a few others.
However, the interesting fact is that Divyank himself didn’t know the exact number of cars he owned. “I have no idea. I’d say more than five, less than 15. There are home cars because someone decided to get a car at one of the houses. But the primary ones I use are the ones I mentioned.” said Divyank.
One of the youngest Indian billionaires, as of 2025, Divyank Turakhia has an estimated net worth of INR 12,500 Crores.
