Netflix’s crime K-Drama series, Extracurricular, has left its viewers on the edge of their seats, wondering if there will be a second season. The future of the show depends on Netflix’s decision, as the streaming giant has not yet made any official announcement regarding the renewal of the series.
Extracurricular is written by Jim Han Sae and directed by Kim Jin-Min. The show features Kim Dong-hee, who is famous for his roles in popular series such as Itaewon Class and Sky Castle. Jung Da Bin, the female lead, is already a veteran of the small screen at the age of 19, having appeared on television since the age of 5.
Extracurricular Season 2: Netflix Renewal Status
Official Status of Renewal: Pending (Last Updated: May 6, 2020)
As of March 2024, the official renewal status of Extracurricular is pending, and Netflix has not announced any updates since June 5th, 2020. It usually takes Netflix at least a month, and sometimes longer, to renew a show. Therefore, it may take some time for fans to hear about the future of the show.
K-Dramas have become immensely popular on Netflix, and the genre has found its home on the streaming service. Shows like Love Alarm and Persona have taken time to announce their renewal, but fans of Extracurricular are optimistic that the show will return.
Extracurricular Season 2: Release Date
Until the renewal of Extracurricular is confirmed, fans can only speculate about the release of the second season. The first season of the show went into production in the late spring or early summer of 2019, with filming concluding on August 6th, 2019.
Assuming that filming began around the same time in 2020, fans could expect a potential release date of April 2021. However, it is more likely that filming for season 2 started late, and the show will return to Netflix even later.

The Plot of Extracurricular Season 2
Season 1 of Extracurricular ended with a cliffhanger, leaving fans eagerly waiting for the next season. Ji-soo finds himself in a “bloody situation” after being stabbed multiple times by Ki-tae, who found Min-hee’s phone covered in blood in Ji-soo’s possession.
Detective Lee begins to suspect Ji-soo and the members of the Social Issues Research club for their involvement in illegal activities, despite Mr. Cho vouching for Ji-soo’s character as a good student.
