Google’s New “Circle to Search” Simplifies Search

Going with the latest AI features and the power of the lens, Google has introduced a new feature called ‘Circle to Search’ and it works exactly how it sounds.

When you come across something unfamiliar or worth searching on your screen, just circle it—and voilà! Google instantly brings up a page full of relevant search results. Fascinating, right? Initially, this intuitive feature will roll out on five devices: the three models in Samsung’s new Galaxy S24 series, along with Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Meanwhile, following its launch on five phones, it further launches on other premium Android phones.

Despite it sounds similar to Google Lens, you can use Circle without even opening Google. To use the feature, just long-press the home button if you’re on three-button navigation, or swipe up on the navigation bar if you’re using gestures. The option will then appear at the top of your screen, ready to use. With Google Circle, you can search any text, language, symbol, subject, or picture among all.

An expert who tested the feature on the Galaxy S24 praised its simplicity. Unlike the old Google Lens method, which required multiple steps, ‘Circle to Search’ lets users tap and hold the home button, circle any item on the screen, and get instant results—without switching apps. It’s a faster, more seamless way to search powered by AI.

Meanwhile, supporting Circle to Search is an upgrade to Google’s multi-search feature. Multisearch is an existing lens feature that enables users to modify visual searches.

Unlike Circle to Search, Multisearch will be available on the Google app on any iOS to Android device; however, only in the US.
