Vidyut Jammwal is an Indian actor, martial artist, and film producer. He has mainly worked in Hindi movies. Best known for his role in the Commando movie series, Vidyut also practices Kalaripayattu. The actor made his debut with the Telugu movie Sakthi, then his Hindi debut with Force, and his Tamil debut with Billa II.
Vidyut Jammwal was born on December 10, 1980 (age 43, as of February 2024) in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Born into an army family, Vidyut has lived in various cities owing to his father’s job. Moreover, he has been trained in Kalaripayattu, Kerala, in an ashram run by his mother. Not only this, Jammwal has travelled to more than 25 countries to perform live-action shows. The actor made his Bollywood debut with the 2011 film Force and played a negative role in the film. Besides, he won many debut awards for the same, including the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Notably, he has also won a SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for the Tamil movie Thuppakki.

Vidyut Jammwal made his acting debut in 2011 with the John Abraham starrer Force, the Hindi version of the Tamil movie Kaakha Kaakha. In addition, he played the role of a villain in that movie, which ultimately made him the recipient of many debut awards, along with the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
Moreover, he played many such parts in Telugu movies starring NTR, such as Shakti and Oosaravelli. In 2012, the actor made his Tamil debut with the role of an antagonist opposite Ajith Kumar in the movie Billa II and received critical acclaim for the same. In 2013, Jammwal made his lead role debut with the Hindi-language Bollywood film Commando. In that movie, he performed various dangerous stunts without any stunt actors. Moreover, in the same year, the movie was screened internationally at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal and the Fantastic Fest in Texas. He received praise from international critics and media outlets, with people referring to him as India’s Bruce Lee and Tony Jaa. Following his success with Commando, he was also featured in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Bullett Raja.
He played the lead roles in Commando 2 (2017) and Commando 3 (2019) as well. Later, he also starred in Charles ‘Chuck’ Russell’s Junglee. In 2020, he acted in the action thriller Khuda Haafiz and its sequel in 2022.
After his debut with the Bollywood movie Force in 2012, Vidyut won many awards. Some of them are the Stardust Awards for Breakthrough Performance (male), the FICCI Frames Awards and Filmfare Awards for Best Debut (male), and the IIFA Awards for Star Debut of the Year (male). Moreover, in 2013, he won the Best Actor in a Negative Role for Thuppakki and the Zee Cine Awards in the Umeed Ka Naya Chehra—Male category in 2014 for the movie Commando.
