Kalki 2898 AD, starring Deepika Padukone and Prabhas, has been postponed for release. The film may be released on June 20, 2024. Previously, the film was scheduled to be released on May 9 but got postponed due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The makers of the film haven’t issued an official statement for the release date. The film is science fiction directed by Nag Ashwin. Apart from Deepika and Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Hassan will be seen playing key roles in the film. Disha Patani and Prabhas shot a song for the film in Italy.
The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6,000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian and not making it look like Blade Runner. Six thousand years behind 2898 AD is 3101 BCE, which is when the last avatar of Krishna is believed to have passed.

This film is shot in both Telugu and Hindi. The film combines different genres and also delves into Hindu mythology. The character Kalki is known as the tenth rebirth of Lord Vishnu. Kalki 2898 AD is known to be on a high budget and is one of the most expensive Indian films to be ever made.
Deepika Padukone wrapped her part of the shoot before announcing her pregnancy. She will also star in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. Deepika Padukone was last seen in Fighter opposite Hrithik Roshan, and it became a blockbuster.
Prabhas has a lot of films in his kitty, including several VFX movies. He will play in the upcoming horror-comedy ‘The Raja Saab’ and will make extreme use of VFX in it. The actor will also star in ‘Spirit’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The movie is anticipated to be released in 2025.
