Ajay Devgn is scheduled to make a comeback in a new sequel. The actor will be seen playing the same role in “De De Pyaar De 2,” the follow-up to his popular 2019 romantic comedy that also stars Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh, after “Singham Again” and “Raid 2.”
The official X handle of production house T-Series announced De De Pyaar De 2 on Wednesday. “De De Pyaar De 2 will release on 1st May 2025. The film is directed by Anshul Sharma, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Luv Ranjan & @gargankur and written by @tkjain85 and Luv Ranjan,” it posted
Anshul Sharma will direct the follow-up instead of Luv, who will remain a co-writer and co-producer. There is also no indication of whether Tabu and Rakul will return to their respective roles as Ajay rejoins the franchise.
The plot of Luv Ranjan’s film “De De Pyaar De” revolves around 50-year-old NRI investor Aashish Mehra (Ajay), who moves in with 27-year-old stripper Ayesha (Rakul). Later on, he presents her to his family in India, which includes his ex-wife, Manju (Tabu) and their children. But then he finds himself torn between his restored passion for Manju and his blossoming love for Ayesha.
The film featured Javed Jaffrey, Jimmy Shergill, Alok Nath, Sunny Singh, and Kumud Mishra, in addition to being co-produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg’s Luv Films. It was Akiv Ali’s first film as a filmmaker and brought in ₹143 crore at the box office.
Ajay will next be seen in two more sequels before “De De Pyaar De 2”: “Raid 2,” which is also co-produced by T-Series, and “Singham Again,” the police drama directed by Rohit Shetty. Ajay last appeared in Shaitaan; Vikas Bahl directed the movie and, in just five days, collected ₹69.51 crore at the domestic box office. Alongside Tabu, he will also feature in the time football film “Maidaan” by Amit R. Sharma and the period romance “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha” by Neeraj Pandey.
