Maharashtra cyber cell summoned actor Tamannaah Bhatia in connection with the Mahadev online gaming and betting application. The actress has been asked to appear to answer questions on April 29.
Reportedly, Sanjay Dutt is also involved in the case. The actor has also been quite busy and couldn’t appear to answer due to his busy schedule and asked for a new date. He has given the date and time for recording the statement and said he was not in India on the date.
The officials stated that Tamannaah Bhatia has been allegedly promoting the viewership of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on the app.
There are more than 20 influencers who were endorsed by the FairPlay app on several platforms and are also likely to be summoned for the recording of their statements.
In September 2023, Viacom 18 registered an FIR and claimed that they possess the Intellectual Property rights for streaming IPL matches. The betting app, FairPlay, was streaming the matches illegally. Several influencers and Bollywood celebrities who promoted the viewership were summoned.
The manager’s statements of actors Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez and Badshah have already been recorded by the Maharashtra cyber cell.
This has caused a loss of over Rs 100 crore to the broadcaster, Viacom 18. After the FIR, an employee from the betting app was also arrested in the case.
Actress Tamannaah Bhatia is popularly known for her films like Baahubali and Lust Stories 2. Tamannaah is all set to star in ‘Vedaa’, ‘Stree 2’ and ‘Odela 2’. The actress charges 5-7 crores per movie and 70 to 80 lakhs per brand endorsement. She has a net worth of Rs 120 crore. Tamannaah is currently dating actor Vijay Varma and is planning to tie the knot soon. She confirmed her relationship with Vijay during the release of the anthology ‘Lust Stories 2’.
