Mysuru court put stay orders over the release of the film ‘Maidaan’ due to claims of plagiarism in the story of the movie. A Karnataka-based writer has imposed allegations on the script of the film.
The film was set to release on April 11 on the occasion of Eid and would have clashed with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starrer ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’.
The biographical movie was based on the life of former Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. ‘Maidaan’ stars Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Nitanshi Goel in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and backed by Boney Kapoor.
In 2010, I started writing the story and in 2018 I posted a poster about this, and I got in contact with Ad director Sukhdas Suryavanshi through my LinkedIn post. He called me to Bombay and asked me to get the script. I have the whole chat history. He told me that he’d make me meet Amir Khan but I couldn’t meet him for certain reasons. I gave him the story and registered the same with the Screen Writers Association.
Anil Kumar, the scriptwriter
Ninad Nayampally, a camera equipment supplier, complained against the producer of the film, Boney Kapoor for the non-payment of dues for the film ‘Maidaan.’ The producer has been asked to deposit a bank guarantee with interest @21% per annum within eight days by the court.
Boney Kapoor’s lawyer has stated that Boney has never denied the payment of the principal amount and will clear the dues.
Actor Ajay Devgn was last seen in ‘Shaitaan’ which did perform well at the box office and entered the Rs 100 crore club. Ajay has a lot of films in his kitty including ‘Singham Again,’ and ‘Raid 2,’ which will mark their release on August 15 and November 15, 2024, respectively, whereas De ‘De Pyaar 2’ will hit the theatres on May 1, 2025.
