On Monday, singer Usha Uthup and actor Mithun Chakraborty were honoured with Padma Bhushan. President Draupadi Murmu conferred the award on the artists in Delhi.
Veteran singer Usha Uthup shared her happiness over receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award and expressed her emotions. Actor Mithun Chakraborty was awarded for his outstanding contributions to Indian cinema.
Usha Uthup expressed her emotions while having a conversation with ANI. She stated, “I am so, so happy. I am overflowing with joy… tears are visible in my eyes, you all can see. For me, this is the biggest moment of my life… to be recognised and appreciated by your country and, of course, by your government. What more could one ask for, truly?”
Usha Uthup has entertained the audience with her incredible singing skills. She has sung several hit songs, including Ramba Ho Ho, Hari Om, One Two Cha Cha, Darling and many more. Usha has not only marked her place in the industry as a singer but has also acted in several films.
Mithun Chakraborty stated during the media interaction, “I am very happy. I have never asked for anything for myself from anyone in my life. I am very happy because when someone receives so much respect and honour… it’s the happiest moment.”
Mithun Chakraborty is loved by his fans and the audience; he made his movie debut in 1976 with Mrigayaa. He has portrayed iconic characters in his career and has won several national awards in different categories.
Mithun Da created a buzz among the audience with his iconic dance steps in ‘I Am a Disco Dancer’, ‘Jimmy Jimmy’ and more. The actor was last seen in ‘The Kashmir Files’.
Padma Bhushan is the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India. The award is given to the individual for his/her service in any field except those working with public sector undertakings.
