A father of a 21-year-old daughter from Madhya Pradesh told police that his daughter had been kidnapped, and the kidnapper is demanding Rs 30 lakh in ransom.
The father gave the pictures to the police, which he received. The picture showed his daughter with her hands and feet tied. The father informed the police that her daughter is enrolled at a coaching institute in Rajasthan’s Kota.
The police stated that the investigation suggests that no one had kidnapped her, but she had faked her kidnapping.
Kota Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan said,
In the investigation so far, evidence shows that no crime has been committed against the girl and no kidnapping has taken place. From the evidence found so far, the incident appears to be false.
During the investigation, the police found that she was residing with two of her friends in Indore, about 400 kilometers from her parent’s house. Her friend told the police that the girl wanted to go abroad and wouldn’t be able to study in India. The girl wanted money to study abroad.
She was not enrolled in any of the coaching institutes or hostels, and her location for the last 6-7 months was not traced in Kota. The girl’s mother registered her in a tutoring program on August 3, and she remained there till August 5 before moving to Indore, Madhya Pradesh, according to the police.
In an attempt to convince her parents that she was enrolled in classes at the institute, the girl sent messages from various phone numbers. She also included information about her test results. She further faked her kidnapping, took help from one of her friends, sent her pictures with tied feet and hands to her father, and demanded money.
