Mukesh Bansal was born on September 6, 1975 (age 49, as of 2024) in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. He did his schooling at Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Haridwar. Soon after completing his higher secondary education, he pursued a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Initial Career
Soon after pursuing an undergraduate degree, he was planning to pursue an MBA and start his start-up. However, soon after graduating, in 1997, he got a job with the consulting firm Deloitte and relocated to Chicago.
Nevertheless, after two years at Deloitte, he couldn’t fit into the corporate environment. Hence, in 1999, he quit his job at the conglomerate and drove down there with a friend.
Following quitting Deloitte, he and his friend planned to start a job portal; however, they gave up after working for the same for a few months. Meanwhile, between 1999 and 2007, Mukesh Bansal worked for four early-stage companies. Out of the four start-ups, two were in the e-commerce space and two in the enterprise software business.
Myntra
In the eight years, Bansal learned the nature of business and start-ups. Soon after, in 2007, he moved back to India and started Myntra. Initially, he started looking for funding partners and partnered with his college juniors, Ashutosh Lawania and Vineet Saxena. Initially, Myntra was a corporate-customized gift and didn’t perform up to the mark.
Hence, in 2010, Bansal evaluated many categories and, hence, settled on fashion as an alternative business. With this change, the company gained worthy investors and became India’s most-funded company.
Flipkart
Later, in 2014, Mukesh Bansal met and began interacting with Flipkart founders, Sachin and Binny Bansal. So, making his competitors collaborators, the three Bansals joined hands for a higher probability of success. Meanwhile, following Flipkart’s acquisition of Myntra, he joined Flipkart as Head of Commerce & Advertising Business.
Cult.Fit
In 2016, Mukesh Bansal, along with Ankit Angori, founded Cult.fit, a fitness and well-being start-up.
