Rahul Dua is an Indian stand-up comedian and actor. In 2021, he gained prominence after his participation in Netflix’s Comedy Premier League, wherein he was a member of the team “Naazuk Nevles.”

Rahul Dua, who is currently 32 years old (born in 1992), hails from Ludhiana, Punjab, India. He completed his schooling at Sacred Heart Convent School in Ludhiana. Then went on to pursue engineering at Thapar University in Patiala. His field of specialisation was Electronics and Communication. Showing an interest in pursuing an MBA, he successfully cleared the CAT entrance test and secured admission to the Faculty of Management Studies in Delhi, one of the business schools in India. Following that, he earned a masters degree in business administration with a specialisation in Finance and marketing.

Rahul Dua’s father, Dr. Kirti Dua, was a professor at the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU). Nevertheless, his father passed away in June 2020 after suffering from COVID-19. Meanwhile, his mother, Geeta Dua, is a teacher at Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana. In addition to that, Rahul has a younger brother, Sidharth Dua.

In October 2020, Rahul Dua engaged Nidhi Tyagi, a corporate professional. And, in the same year, the couple entered into a marriage.

Before marrying Nidhi Tyagi, he was in a relationship with her. In a media interview, Rahul talked about the same and said, “I have been in a relationship with Nidhi and we were supposed to get married next year. In Corporate
While pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering, he worked as a summer intern at Motorola Solutions, Gurgaon. In 2011, he worked as a project intern at Nokia, where he worked for 6 months. Subsequently, in 2013, he worked as a management trainee, at Global Industries and Regional Markets at Citibank India. In June 2014, he worked as an assistant manager in the Corporate Banking Group at Citibank India. After working for a year at Citibank India, he joined Star India Private Limited as its Assistant Manager.
As a Stand-Up Comedian
While working for Star TV, he explored his secondary interest, stand-up comedy, and started presenting comedy gigs at open mic nights at Connaught Place, New Delhi. Following getting paid for his stand-up comedy, he decided to switch his career from an investment banker to a stand-up comedian.
Subsequently, he came across the advertisement of Amazon’s Comicstaan and decided to go for it. In 2018, he made his digital debut with Amazon Prime’s Comicstaan, wherein he obtained the position of runner-up. Later, in the next year, he was featured in Amazon’s self-titled, Rahul Dia Specials. Meanwhile, in the same year, he worked for Amazon’s Kiski Sarkar. Subsequently, he participated in two comedy-reality shows, Amazon Funnies: 10 Minute Stand-Ups and Comedy Premiere League. In 2023, he replaced Ranjvijay Singha as the host of the business reality television series, Shark Tanks Season 2.
Controversy
Slammed for Mocking Dentists and Physiotherapists
In 2021, Rahul Dua uploaded a stand-up comedy video on Instagram in which he was seen making fun of dentists and physiotherapists. While interacting with his audience, he came across Rashi, a doctor. “Are you the main frontline worker or you are a dentist?” he asked. This question made the audience burst into laughter. Nevertheless, while supporting the stereotype, Rashi answered that she is a “real doctor.” To which, Rahul answered with a controversial reply, “So, you are a real doctor. She even says that she is an actual doctor. So nice of you guys.”
Meanwhile, later, in the same comedy gig video, he was seen making fun of physiotherapists. “I don’t know why physiotherapists call themselves doctors. After all, it is just an expensive massage” said Dua in the video.
However, as soon as the video went viral, a section of netizens, including dentists and physiotherapists, slammed Rahul for his trolling statements. Owing to this, Rahul Dua deleted the controversial video from social media. Later, he also posted an apologising video in which he said sorry for offending the doctors (dentists and physiotherapists).
