Rahul Gandhi To Contest Lok Sabha Polls From Amethi

A senior Congress leader from Uttar Pradesh confirmed that the party leader, Rahul Gandhi, will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Amethi. Rahul Gandhi has represented the constituency several times since 2002.  The district’s Congress President, Pradeep Singhal, who returned from a meeting in Delhi, stated that Mr. Gandhi will be the party candidate from Amethi, and his name will be announced soon. However, there is no word from the party’s central leadership on the matter. As a result, while Singhal’s announcement carries weight locally, the official confirmation from the central leadership is still pending as the party’s Central Election Committee meeting is yet to take place.
