Rhea Chakraborty was born on July 1, 1992 (age 31 years; as of 2023) in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Owing to her father’s transferable job, Chakraborty did her schooling at various schools across India. Meanwhile, she also attended Army Public School, Ambala Cantt, Ambala.

Family

Rhea Chakraborty belongs to a Bengali well-doing family. Her father, Indrajit Chakraborty, served in the army as a medical officer. While her mother, Sandhya Chakraborty, is a homemaker. Additionally, her brother, Showik Chakraborty, is a businessman.

• In 2009, Rhea Chakraborty started her career with MTV India’s TVS Scooty Teen Diva where she was the first- runner-up.

Controversy

Accused in Sushant Singh Rajput’s Case

After a month of Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide in 2020, his father K.K.Singh filed an F.I.R against Rhea Chakraborty at Patna Police Station. Soon after the case was filed, four police members travelled to Mumbai to question Rhea and her family members. 

In the FIR, Singh claimed, “Sushant called his sister and told her that Rhea had threatened him to show doctor receipts to the media and would prove him mad. Thereafter, no person would give him work. On June 8 night, Sushant’s secretary Disha committed suicide. Rhea had appointed her as Sushant’s secretary. Later, Rhea blocked Sushant’s number on her cell. Sushant was afraid that Rhea could have made him responsible for his manager’s suicide as she had threatened to frame him in the secretary’s suicide case.”

• Sushant Singh Rajput: In April 2019, she started dating Sushant Singh Rajput. Meanwhile, the couple moved in together in December 2019. However, on 14 June 2020, Sushant died by suicide, six days after Rhea moved out.
