- Roman Saini wasn’t a bright or meritorious student while he was in school. When he entered 10th grade, he started focusing on his studies and secured 85% from the Rajasthan Board, and in 12th grade, he scored 91%.
- At the age of 16, Roman cracked the admissions test for AIIMS after completing his schooling. He served as a junior resident doctor there. He used to visit medical camps in different parts of India and witnessed the harsh reality of poverty.
- In his second year of MBBS at AIIMS Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini and other team members decided to start a YouTube channel where qualified individuals, such as teachers, doctors, engineers and other professionals, posted videos, content and study materials for civil services, medicine and more.
- Roman wanted to contribute to society and work for its welfare, so he further decided to crack the civil services examination.

- In 2023, Roman Saini fired an Unacademy employee, Karan Sangwan, on grounds of a ‘breach of conduct’ as the tutor shared a personal opinion while teaching his students. Roman took to X and said, “Our learners are at the centre of everything we do. The classroom is not a place to share personal opinions and views as they can wrongly influence them. In the current situation, we were forced to part ways with Karan Sangwan as he was in breach of the Code of Conduct.” This incident resulted in trending hashtags where people wrote #uninstallUnacademy and boycotted the ed-tech platform.
- In October 2017, Roman Saini filed an F.I.R. against a woman named Chitra Geetha at the Indiranagar Police Station in Bengaluru. Roman claimed that Geetha has been harassing her since 2016 and forcing him to marry her. Chitra Geetha joined Unacademy in 2016 and was asking Roman to pay Rs 1.6 lakh per month. The woman threatened to pour petrol over him and set him ablaze.
