Supriya Shrinate’s Post On Kangana Ranaut’s Electoral Debut Sparks Controversy

On Monday, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate made an objectionable post on Kangana Ranaut over the electoral debut of the actress. The post sparked controversy, and the National Commission of Women demanded strict action against the politician.

Supriya took to Instagram with a picture of Kangana Ranaut and wrote, “Can someone tell what is the current rate in Mandi (market)?” 

Actress Kangana Ranaut is all set to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on the BJP’s ticket from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

Kangana took to X and replied to the post made against her. The actress wrote, “Dear Supriya ji, In the last 20 years of my career as an artist I have played all kinds of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii.” She further added, “We must free our daughters from the shackles of prejudices, we must rise above the curiosity about their body parts and above all we must refrain from using sex workers challenging lives or circumstances as some kind of abuse or slur… every woman deserves her dignity…” 

Later, Supriya Shrinate clarified in a video and stated “Many people have access to my Facebook and Instagram accounts. Someone from them made an extremely inappropriate post today. As soon as I came to know, I deleted that post. Everyone who knows me, also knows very well that I can never make personal and indecent comments towards any woman.” 

Ms Shrinate stated that everyone knows her and that she cannot make such an objectionable post, especially against a woman. She blamed a fake account being run with her name, which made the post, and it was later copied from there and posted on her Instagram and Facebook accounts. She further said that her team is trying to know who is responsible for this action. Ms Shrinate has also reported her fake account to X.
