Kawasaki KX 100 has a 99 cc two-stroke engine; on the other hand, Yamaha TTR 125 has a 124 cc four-stroke engine. KX 100 has a liquid, and TTR 125 has an air cooling system for the engine. Both of the bikes are ideal for beginners and adults.
Both bikes are for learning, but in comparison of the speed, KX100 top speed is 60–70 mph on the other hand, TTR 125 has a 45 mph top speed.
Talking about the transmission of these bikes, both are manually operated by the clutch, but KX 100 has six-speed gears while TTR 125 has a five-speed gear.
Suspensions absorb the bumps of the road and provide a smooth and calm ride to the rider. KX 100 has a 36 mm inverted cartridge front fork with 6.1 inches of wheel travel and Uni-Tark rear suspension with 10.8 inches of travel. These suspensions are good and have a pretty good bump absorbing capacity.
On the other hand, TTR 125 has typical 31 mm telescopic front forks and a single rear shock. Both these front and rear suspensions are adjustable, so you can easily adjust them according to your need and weight. The front fork has 7.1 in wheel travel, and the rear shock has 6.6 in wheel travel. This bike’s suspensions are stiff, making the ride difficult compared to the KX 100.
Brakes are necessary for all kinds of vehicles as they provide resistance to the tires that result in stopping the vehicle. Both of the bikes have adequate braking systems and can be very helpful in their time of need.
Kawasaki added a 220 mm petal brake on the front wheel of the KX 100 and a 184 mm petal brake for the rear wheel. These petal brakes keep all brake pads calm and clean and reduce unsprung weight.
Coming on the TTR 125 braking system, you will get drum brakes on both the rear and front sides of its base variant. These brakes need to be improved, so later in 2003, Yamaha added a 220 mm single hydraulic disc for the front and a 110 mm drum brake for the rear side in his new TTR 125E and TTR 125EL.
Tires are also an essential component of the bike. A good tire also helps providing an excellent ride to the rider while absorbing the bumps. So to make sure you will get a good riding experience, Kawasaki added 70 / 100-19 tire on the front and 90 / 100-16 tire on the rear side.
On the other hand, TTR 125E and TTR 125LE models have 17″ (125)/19″ tire for the front side and 14″ (125)/16″ for the rear side. Both tires are good and provide fine grip on the road.
Kawasaki KX 100 has 75.5 inches length and 30.1 inches width. Due to its 30.1 inches height and 34.2 inches seat height, adults can easily ride on it. You will get a good riding experience on it as it has 51.50 inches wheelbase. You can ride off-road without having any hitting the engine to the ground issues, as it has 12.9 inches of excellent ground clearance. The fuel capacity of just 5 liters is a bit low so you may face an issue with it.
Yamaha TTR 125 is also a good bike for beginners and adults. It is 74.2 inches in length and 31.3 inches in width. Yamaha has 42.7 inches and 31.7 inches of seat height, so adults can easily touch the ground through their feet. It has 11.6 inches of ground clearance and 50 inches wheelbase. It also has a more fuel capacity of 6.05 liters than the KX 100.
Both of the bikes are good for diving into the dirt bike sea. Both have decent seat height, so small height persons can also ride them comfortably. But KX 100 has better suspensions, tire size, and, most importantly, a superior braking system than the TTR 125. If you are a Yamaha lover and want to buy Yamaha’s beginner bike, then you can go with the Yamaha TT-R230, as it has upgraded features and items to provide a clam ride.
However, Kawasaki KX 100 is a clear winner in this comparison so if you want to buy between these two, then you can choose KX 100 and make your first experience satisfactory.
