Deepinder Goyal, the CEO of Zomato, updated everyone on X on the recently introduced “Pure Veg Fleet” dress code. He made it clear in his post that even if the company would “have a fleet for vegetarians,” all of its riders would still be dressed in red attire. This happened after the meal delivery service received negative press for revealing that the delivery partners for Zomato’s “Pure Veg Fleet” will be dressed in green uniforms and carry green delivery boxes.
Update on our pure veg fleet — While we are going to continue to have a fleet for vegetarians, we have decided to remove the on-ground segregation of this fleet on the ground using the colour green. All our riders — both our regular fleet, and our fleet for vegetarians, will wear the colour red. This means that the fleet meant for vegetarian orders will not be identifiable on the ground (but will show on the app that your veg orders will be served by the veg only fleet),

This will guarantee that our red uniform delivery partners are not mistakenly linked to non-vegetarian cuisine and banned by any RWAs or societies on any special days. The physical safety of our riders is our top priority.

Additionally, he disclosed that the business “now” understands that separating dresses could find consumers in hot water “with their landlords.” He also praised everyone for their assistance in assisting the business in “understanding the unforeseen repercussions of this launch.”
While wrapping up the post, the CEO wrote, “We are always listening, without unnecessary ego, or pride. We look forward to continuing serving you.”
Users showered happiness on the decision and praised Deepinder for bringing a change in strategy in order to satisfy its customers.
